Two columns of equal height: an in-house salary block with five cost layers stacked above it, the last in orange, and a single augmented fee block, beside the words In-house or extended.

Staff augmentation vs in-house hiring comes down to what you pay beyond the salary, and how long your roadmap waits for the person. In Dubai, a new developer brings recruitment fees, gratuity, visa costs and a notice period before they write a line of code, while an augmented developer joins your team for one monthly fee and you still direct the work.

Quick answer

A mid-level developer hired in Dubai costs about AED 36,450 to 40,050 a month in year one once recruitment, gratuity and a desk are added to a AED 30,000 salary, before visa, insurance and equipment. With staff augmentation you pay one monthly fee per developer, the provider carries the employment costs, and you keep control of the work.

What waiting for a hire costs you

A developer already working in the UAE usually serves a notice period of 30 to 90 days, as u.ae explains. Add the search, the offer and visa processing, and a new hire can take months to start. Every one of those months is a release your customers don’t get, or a backlog your current team carries alone.

The year-one cost, side by side

Our example is a mid-level full-stack developer on AED 30,000 a month. That sits inside the AED 25,000 to 40,000 range that the Hays GCC Salary Guide 2025 gives for full-stack developers. We assume AED 18,000 of it is basic salary, because gratuity is worked out on basic pay only.

Year one, one developer Hire in-house Staff augmentation
Salary AED 360,000 (AED 30,000 a month) Inside one monthly fee per developer, agreed in your proposal
Recruitment AED 54,000 to 90,000 one-off: agency fees run 15% to 25% of annual salary, according to a UAE recruitment guide None on your side. We source and screen; you choose from our shortlist
End-of-service gratuity AED 12,600 accrued: 21 days’ basic pay a year for the first five years (u.ae) None on your side
Desk AED 10,800 to 18,000: a flexi or fixed desk at Dubai Silicon Oasis coworking costs AED 900 to 1,500 a month None. Developers work remotely, from our Alexandria office or wherever your brief sets
Visa, permit, Emirates ID, insurance, laptop Quoted by your PRO, free zone and insurer; Dubai employers pay the full health premium. Laptop and licences are your own figure None on your side
Time to start Search, plus a 30 to 90-day notice period, plus visa processing Agreed in your proposal, after your interviews
If it doesn’t work out Notice, gratuity and a new search We source a replacement and you interview again
Who directs the work You You
Fits when A core role you’ll need for years, close to the business, or work that has to happen on site 6 to 18 months of extra capacity on a backlog you run, or a skill you lack, such as mobile or test automation
What you can price today About AED 437,000 to 481,000, or AED 36,450 to 40,050 a month, before the visa, insurance and equipment lines One monthly fee per developer, plus VAT where it applies

Leave matters too. After a year, an employee gets 30 days’ paid leave, so you pay 12 months of salary for about 11 months of work, before public holidays and sick days.

Many companies end up with a mix: a small in-house core of product and tech leads, and augmented developers adding capacity around them.

How staff augmentation works with us

  1. You brief us. The roles, skills, seniority, working hours and language your project needs.
  2. We source and screen. Candidates come from the market and from our core team where one fits. Each gets a technical interview with a senior Flojics engineer and a practical task.
  3. You choose who joins. You interview the shortlist, can set your own technical task and approve only the people you want.
  4. Contract, then access. NDA, master agreement and statement of work come first, then access to your tools. We design for UAE PDPL, Saudi PDPL and PIPEDA, and agree data rules with you before access.
  5. They work in your rituals. Your stand-ups, your tracker, your repositories. Scale up or down as your roadmap changes, on the notice terms in your proposal.

Our core team in Alexandria is Arabic-native and works in English. Egypt is one hour behind Dubai in Egyptian summer time and two hours behind in winter. With a Monday-to-Friday week in Dubai and Sunday-to-Thursday in Egypt, you share four weekdays, with seven to eight hours of overlap a day when both offices work 9:00 to 18:00. The contract is run from our headquarters at Dubai Digital Park, Dubai Silicon Oasis.

Send us a role brief. List the roles, skills, seniority and hours you need. We reply with how we’d source the people and who you’d interview, and the start date goes into your proposal. Plan your team →

When another way of working fits better

Staff augmentation is one of four ways to work with us:

  • Time and materials suits small or changing scopes, such as a backlog of fixes, an integration or a code review. You buy hours from our core team and see where each one went.
  • A dedicated team suits the long term. We recruit a team to your brief under a long-term contract, and with Build-Operate-Transfer you can take over the engineers we recruited for you when the contract ends, on terms agreed up front, while our delivery lead and QA stay with our core team.
  • Project delivery suits a clear scope with no tech lead free to direct the work. We deliver it end to end, and our guide to choosing a software development company in Dubai covers how to compare firms for that.

You can compare all four on our engagement models page.

How ButlerFM extended its team

ButlerFM is a facility-management SaaS covering time tracking, inspections, work orders and reporting. Our engineers joined the client’s own team to add capacity, and the client’s process led. ButlerFM’s CEO, John Tsertos, said: “Flojics Technology has effectively filled the gaps in the client’s internal team with highly capable resources.” The ButlerFM case study shows the product.

Beyond the people, we add transparent delivery: a monthly report, check-ins with your account manager and a performance review for each developer, so you always know what your fee is buying.

Plan your team with us

Since 2014 we have worked with more than 100 clients across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, the USA and Canada. See how team extension and staff augmentation works, or plan your team with us. We ask about your goal, what you use today, your timing and who else should be involved. You leave with clear next steps. The call commits you to nothing, and we sign an NDA first if you want one.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to hire a developer in Dubai?

The Hays GCC Salary Guide 2025 puts front-end and back-end developers at AED 20,000 to 35,000 a month and full-stack developers at AED 25,000 to 40,000, as a fixed package. Recruitment fees, visa and permit fees, health insurance, gratuity and a desk come in addition. With staff augmentation, those employment costs sit with the provider and you pay one monthly fee, agreed in your proposal.

How quickly can an augmented developer start?

The start date is agreed in your proposal, once you have interviewed our shortlist and chosen who joins. There is no notice period, visa or relocation on your side, which is usually what holds an in-house hire back for months.

Do we stay in control of the work?

Yes. You interview every candidate, can set a technical task and decide who joins. Augmented developers work in your tracker, your repositories and your stand-ups, and your leads set the priorities. Our account manager checks in with you and sends a monthly report.

Who owns the code, and how is our data handled?

Code lives in your own repositories from the first commit, and the code and IP pass to you at the end of the contract term or project, once it is completed and paid, as written in the agreement we sign before anyone gets access. We sign an NDA first if you want one. We design for UAE PDPL, Saudi PDPL and PIPEDA, and agree data rules with you before access, so each developer sees only what their tasks need.

What if a developer is not the right fit?

Tell your account manager. HR and replacements sit with us: we source a replacement through the same shortlist and you interview again. The work stays in your repositories, so nothing is lost while the new person settles in.

Is staff augmentation the same as a dedicated team?

No. Staff augmentation adds one or more developers to the team you already run. A dedicated team is recruited for you under a long-term contract, with our delivery lead running its process, and with Build-Operate-Transfer you can take over the engineers we recruited for you when the contract ends, on terms agreed up front. Our delivery lead and QA stay with our core team.
