Toronto’s morning is Alexandria’s afternoon.
Our engineers are 7 hours ahead of Toronto for most of the year and 9 to 10 hours ahead of Vancouver, so reviews sit in the Canadian morning and the rest runs on written handovers.
| City | UTC offset | Alexandria is ahead by | Dubai is ahead by |
|---|---|---|---|
| Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa | UTC−5, UTC−4 in summer | 7 hours (6 from 8 March to 23 April, and 30 October to 1 November) | 9 hours in winter, 8 in summer |
| Calgary, Edmonton | UTC−7, UTC−6 in summer | 9 hours (8 from 8 March to 23 April, and 30 October to 1 November) | 11 hours in winter, 10 in summer |
| Vancouver | UTC−7 all year since 8 March 2026 | 9 hours in Egyptian winter time, 10 in summer | 11 hours |
Egypt moves to summer time on the last Friday of April and back on the last Thursday of October; most of Canada changes on the second Sunday of March and the first Sunday of November. British Columbia stopped changing its clocks in 2026 and stays on UTC−7. Dubai never changes.
Three Canadian rules we design around.
Privacy and consent rules shape the first screens of a Canadian app, so we plan for them in discovery. We design around them; your counsel confirms compliance.
A build checklist, not legal advice and no guarantee of compliance. Rules checked 20 October 2026.
No Canadian office, overlap hours and privacy.
Do you have an office in Canada?
No. We have no office or entity in Canada. Canadian teams work with our engineers in Alexandria and our headquarters in Dubai over video calls, shared repositories and written handovers.
How much of a Canadian working day overlaps with yours?
Alexandria is 7 hours ahead of Toronto for most of the year and 9 to 10 hours ahead of Vancouver. Reviews sit in the Canadian morning, and the rest runs on written handovers.
Can the app be in English and French?
Yes. We plan English and French screens from the first wireframe, so neither language is added as an afterthought.
Which Canadian privacy rules do you plan for?
PIPEDA for consent and access rights, Quebec Law 25, which asks for the most private settings by default, and CASL for marketing emails and SMS. We design around them in discovery, and your counsel confirms compliance.
Can you add developers to our existing team instead?
Yes. Engineers join your sprints and tools, with overlap hours agreed before the start and access set up in your accounts, under your policies.
Can you launch our product in the Middle East as well?
Yes. We build Arabic versions with right-to-left layouts when you launch in the Middle East. Our designers and engineers are native Arabic speakers.
